Trip tips in the Spreewald

The village Lehde is the best known place in the Spreewald. In this listed part of Lbbenau live and work roughly 150 people in a traditional way. Many houses can only be reached by boat, so not only the post but also the harvest and even livestock have to be transported by boat.

A footpath exists between Lbbenau and the village Leipe since 1936.The in lower-Sorbian as Lipje known village has been built in a round style. Two Spree courses flow around the island.

We recommend exploring the 'footpath' by bicycle.

The Gurkenradweg (Cucumber Cycle Route):
250km pure Spreewald experience !

Because one can only reach the loveliest most natural place of the Spreewald by boat, paddling boat or by cycle, crafty Spreewlder devised the Gurkenradweg (cucumber cycle route). The routeis sign-posted everywhere withthe funny cucumber. Start and finish is everywhere possible. Well, you don't have to do all of the 250km in one go.

At many places the cucumber cycle route is also very suitable for inline skating. With the appropriate consideration between cyclist and skater it is being used extensively.
